September 3: Somewhere in Shoshone National Forest to A Hop, Skip and a Jump from Yellowstone, WY

I only biked 7 miles today. It's a long story, but here's the Reader's Digest condensed version: It's Labor Day weekend. There isn't a single available room in a lodge anywhere in the park. My choices were to camp in Yellowstone Park (and defy a strong consensus view of "bear-anoia") or take an overpriced motel room in West Yellowstone. As in, West Yellowstone, Montana.

Since my flimsy nylon tent seems a poor anti-Grizzly device, I chose the latter option.

I'm actually glad this happened. While scouting out a place to stay, by sheer Providence I learned of a thoroughly under-utilized van service which allowed me to see far more of Yellowstone than I would have by leg power alone.
